To-Do lists and goals are not created equally.
To-do lists give us tasks without any motivation or direction to complete them.
A to-do list may have different tasks, and none are related to one specific outcome.
Goals allow us to focus the task on the list for a specific purpose and measure the progress along the way.

Goals Give You Direction
Clear goals create a destination or finish line for what you aspire to achieve.
Most of us are well aware that distractions are real and have fallen subject to a few distractions from time to time.
When you have a clear idea of your objectives, you know the target. Even if you get off track, your goals will help you regain focus.
I used to think goals were unnecessary because I knew what I wanted to do and what I needed to do to reach the endpoint.
Things quickly changed when I started my own business while working a full-time job and mothering two teenage boys.
Some days I didn’t know if I was coming or going, let alone the task I needed to complete for my business.
Honestly, things started to blur, and I needed t get a grip. I began implementing goals for all areas of my life home, job, and business.
I can focus on each area and what needs completion by implementing the goals.

Goal Setting Helps Identify What Is Important To You
We all have so many things going on in life that we get pulled in multiple directions.
Setting goals allows you to focus on what is important to you and what you want to achieve.
Setting goals for the important things to you are more manageable, especially if you have taken the time to identify your core values.
You will not set goals for things you are not serious about accomplishing. If you are willing to set goals for something, chances are it has meaning and value to you.
Setting Goals Help You Measure Progress
My coach has embedded a saying in my head, “what gets measured gets managed.”
The whole point of setting goals is to measure your progress.
If your goal is to buy a house, you need smaller goals to accomplish this significant goal.
Think about all the things you need to do to prepare for buying a house.
You need to improve your credit score
Save for a down payment
Apply for a mortgage
Find a realtor
Find a place that fits your needs
Sometimes, we need to break the larger goal down into smaller goals not to get overwhelmed.
The smaller goals make the larger goal is more manageable.
Goals Help You Stay Motivated
One reason why goals are essential is you will create momentum.
Seeing the things you want start to happen motivates you to keep going.
You benefit from accomplishing our goals. You benefit from the shift that happens from your perspective.
You begin to believe in yourself and your dreams and incorporate that belief in more areas of your life.
It’s like a domino effect. Once you accomplish the first goals, you continue to achieve your goals because you believe in the process.
Setting Goals Keeps You Accountable
Once you have completed your first goal, you gain a sense of pride and fulfillment.
We all know experiencing fulfillment gives us the biggest reward of self-satisfaction and an improved mental attitude.
You are now aware of what achieving your dreams feels like, and you will continue seeking out that feeling.
Anytime you are doing something that doesn’t give you that feeling, you are more likely to readjust and get back on track.
Setting goals isn’t about anyone else, and the best way to hold yourself accountable is by setting goals and accomplishing them.
You owe it to yourself to start setting and accomplishing your goals today.
