Most of us have dreams we have given up because someone told us it was time to grow up, and we needed to be realistic about our lives. How many of us still have desires of living our dreams but are afraid it’s too late?
We will talk about turning the reasons not to pursue your dreams into reasons to make your dreams come true.
When we are children, we have giant imaginations and the "wildest" dreams but are the goals that unattainable. Are we conditioned to think they are too big, so we live the lives others want us to live?
There are many reasons people give up on their dreams, but what if I told you the motivation to give could be turned into a reason to continue pursuing.

People Give Away Their Personal Power and The Power to Make Decisions
Allowing other people to make decisions for you goes back to childhood. As children, we have to rely on others to make decisions based on what they feel is best for us. What some of us do not experience is the opportunity to learn how to make our decisions.
We didn't have the opportunity to learn or trust ourselves and our decisions before someone else steps in.
Instead of allowing someone else to make decisions for us, we will start making decisions for ourselves.
This process involves you getting a clear understanding of yourself, your dreams and decisions, and what you want out of life. Yes, this may take some time to do some soul searching before you feel confident.
Stop looking towards other people for validation when you make a decision. No one else needs to validate anything you decide because you know it is best for you.
Stop just going along with what other people want because you don't want to ruffle any feathers. Being quiet and just going with the flow when you know it will not benefit you will not do you any good. Stand up for yourself and make your thoughts and feelings known. Your opinion is not respected because you don't share it.
Lastly, if you believe something, don't allow anyone to convince you otherwise, mostly if you have done your research. Stand firm in your beliefs but also respect those who have differing views.

People Fail Once and Never Try Again
Most people I have encountered expect themselves to be good at all things. Let me ask you this: How can you be good at something if you have never done it before?
Most things we encounter in life take some time to get good at, let alone great. Stop giving up.
Try new things often and try them multiple times. If you give up after the first fail, that means you didn't want to do it in the first place.
I used to pride myself on being good at everything I did until someone pointed out that I only did things I knew how to do.
When presented with the opportunity to do something I have never done. I was terrified and tried to find every excuse not to do it.
I knew I wouldn't be good the first time I recorded a video, but I reluctantly did it. After the initial recording, I continued to record more, and I started doing different things to make the videos better. Just think, if I had given up after the first try, I wouldn't be where I am now.
So I’m suggesting that you take that first step and you continue taking steps to improve. Take notice of the things that you can improve and build from there. The only way to get better at something is to keep doing it.

People Don’t Believe in Themselves
Some people don't believe in themselves, so they look for other people to believe in them. How can someone else believe in you when you don’t believe in yourself?
Stop relying on everyone around you to keep you going and pushing you when you don't feel like continuing. In my opinion, people can only believe in you once you give them something to believe.
I can't be the person who believes in your dreams more than you. Like you can't believe in my dreams more than me.
We can start believing in ourselves more if we start each day with affirmations to help keep us encouraged. Saying to yourself in the mirror daily that you can achieve your dreams helps to change your nonbelieving mindset to one that believes.
Make small changes daily that will encourage you to keep doing your best and believe in yourself. That may look like creating a list of things you need to do to fulfill your dream, and then you do that. How many of those things you do a day will depend on you, but you go back to your list each time you do something and check it off.
Wake up every day with a sense of purpose, knowing that you are doing the best you can do with what you have, and things will begin to fall into place.
For every reason you can come up with to give up, there is a way to turn that around so you can keep going. Hold on to the things you want, and know that you can achieve everything you've ever imagined.
