Understanding Your Chakra

Talking about finding our life purpose, we need to understand our mind, body, and spirit and the role they play in our life purpose.

These three elements work together to make us who we are.

One of the ways I was able to find and live in my purpose was to acknowledge and cater to my spirit element.

Catering to this element has taught me how to balance my energy and focus in those moments when things can get overwhelming.

Today, I’m sharing information about the chakras in hopes your interest will spark and you begin to learn to balance your energies so you can and will align with your purpose.

What Are Chakras?

When you hear people talk about chakras, you mostly hear about “the main 7.” The body has roughly 114 chakras.

A chakra is an energy center housed in the body. Sometimes these energy centers can be blocked or open.

Each chakra functions best when they are open or balanced because the energy is free to flow through the body.

Most of us are walking around with blocked chakras that can prevent us from living our best lives and walking in our purpose.

I am aware this concept may be hard for some people to grasp but when your chakras are blocked certain areas of your life are also blocked.

I don’t associate the chakras with any specific religion because it is all energy and energy is in everything.

The 7 chakras mostly everyone knows are the root chakra, sacral chakra, solar plexus chakra, heart chakra, throat chakra, third eye chakra, and crown chakra.

Root Chakra

The first chakra is the root chakra and it is located at your tailbone.

This is what is known as our survival center and is the first part of the spine developed when we are embryos.

When you think of the root chakra, think about the roots of a tree. Envision how the roots of the tree firmly plant themselves into the ground and the tree grows and flourishes knowing that it is supported to grow to its highest potential.

Your root chakra is where your feelings of security and safety come from. Your basic needs are also connected to your root chakra.

When this chakra is blocked problems manifest with how you feel in the world. You have a sense of a lack of belonging or become co-dependent on another person.

Physically connecting with the earth can balance this energy. Doing things like taking a wall or sitting in the grass can help with grounding.

Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is the second chakra and is located just below the navel.

This chakra is connected to your self-expression, your sexuality, your emotions, and your creativity.

If your sacral chakra is blocked you may be emotionally closed off to others and have feelings of low self-worth.

You may be able to balance this chakra by spending time near water even if it is just taking a bath or shower.

Yoga is also good for this chakra especially posses that open the hips.

Solar Plexus Chakra

The solar plexus is the third chakra which is located at the naval (our power center).

This chakra is connected to our self-esteem, goals, desires, and truest intentions.

When this chakra is blocked it can cause you to feel insecure and anxious. You may also experience digestive issues.

Ego is also stored in the solar plexus chakra.

This chakra can also be balanced through yoga poses that open up the solar plexus.

Heart Chakra

The heart chakra is the fourth chakra which is located in the chest area and the heart space.

This chakra is where we hold feelings of abandonment, rejection, anger, and overall happiness.

Physically, this chakra is associated with the heart, lungs, and circulatory system.

When blocked a person can be closed off and distant leading to feelings of loneliness.

Your heart chakra can be balanced by forgiving yourself and others. Of course, meditation and yoga are useful as well.

Throat Chakra

The throat chakra is the fifth chakra which is located in the throat area. This chakra is responsible for our abilities to communicate and express our truths

Your ability to listen is also associated with the throat chakra.

When it is blocked we experience ineffective communication and have a hard time expressing ourselves and our desires.

Your heart chakra can be balanced by journaling your feelings without filters (you must be honest with yourself first). My favorite way to balance my throat chakra is through singing  and this method helps the energy flow more freely

Third Eye Chakra

The third eye chakra which is the sixth chakra is our sixth sense. It helps us make the right decisions and know what we are to do.

The third eye is the source of our intuition or higher truth.

When it is blocked you can struggle to have faith in your purpose. It can also lead to feelings of insignificance and the inability to make decisions.

Physical manifestations can be headaches, eye discomfort, and sinus pain.

This chakra can be balanced By using affirmations that focus on your limiting beliefs and changing them into positive beliefs.

Of course, yoga is another beneficial tool to help balance the chakras.

Crown Chakra

The crown chakra is the seventh chakra and connects us to everything around us. For this chakra to function properly, all other chakras have to be aligned.

The crown chakra is where consciousness and matter come together.

When it is blocked you can be disconnected from the spiritual nature and feel strongly attached to achievements and material possessions.

This chakra is best balanced through meditation.

Things To Remember When Healing

Most of us have spent years burying our emotions, desires, hurts, and dreams one meditation, one yoga session, or one journal prompt is not going to erase everything you have been through.

These things on their own even if you continue to do them over time will not get you the results you want.

This is why I use the chakras as an accompaniment to my Life Purpose Makeover. We are focusing on healing the person as a whole mind, body, and spirit

There are several ways each chakra can be healed or balanced but we will discuss that in future posts about the chakras and the steps of the road map they are aligned with.

Having as many tools as you can to help you overcome your obstacles and live purposefully is what I desire for myself and you.

The more we know the better off we can be and we can make more informed decisions.
