Building Self-Confidence

We all have been at a point in our lives where we have allowed self-doubt and insecurities to keep us from moving forward.  If you are anything like me, chances are you may still have a moment or two. Yes, being human, it is easy to become distracted from the goal but getting back on track is essential.

Self-confidence is a sort of superpower. It helps us when we feel we cannot go on. It helps to pursue things we would have never thought you could follow. Self-confidence also helps determine how other people treat you. Read on to find out how you can create a good mood and help build your self-confidence.

Cultivating a Good Attitude Helps Build Self Confidence

How do you begin to cultivate the right attitude? You begin to identify your negative thoughts. The thoughts that come up in your mind to tell you, "you are not good enough" or "you can't do something."

Once you can identify your negative thoughts, you can turn them from negative to positive. Turning your negative thoughts into positive thoughts may not be easy at first, and it may take some time to develop a method that works for you.

One method that might work for you is using positive affirmations such as “I am good enough” or “I can do anything.” Looking at the positive side of things can change the outlook you have on life.

A second method is to refuse to focus on the negative and give your attention to positive thoughts. The more you give your attention to the positive thoughts, the more comfortable and natural the process will become.

A third method is to get rid of anything that reminds you of negativity. Keeping these reminders or spending time around these reminders will only bring you down and make you start to feel wrong about your elf again.

Getting rid of these reminders could mean throwing away old clothes, throwing out any pictures that remind you of moments when you felt negative emotions. Lastly, it could mean changing places you go or the people you hang out with.

Just making these small changes can add up and make us start to feel better about ourselves and the things happening in our lives.

Maintain a Positive Support Network

When building self-confidence and the right attitude, it is vital to maintain a positive support system.  This support system is people you can connect with and keep you uplifted. These should not be people who find something negative in everything you say or do.

The most unfortunate thing about this situation is the more positive and confident you become, the more you will find there are people around you who are negative.   As much as you may not want to leave these people alone, you will have to.

When you find the best support network for you may involve taking some time to think about the people in your life and how you feel around them. When you find the ones that make you feel good, stick with them, and try to spend as much time as you need with them.

Identify Your Talents

Identifying your talents is a running theme in finding your life. Once you find your abilities, you have a multitude of possibilities open for you.

In this instance, identifying your talents allows you to take pride in something you do and are good at doing. You can permit yourself to feel good about who you are. You also permit yourself to express who you are with pride.

Our talents help us on many levels. They help us feel good about ourselves, and they help us build confidence in several different situations.

I know we all have heard the stories of different music artists who say when they hit the stage, something takes over, and are not their usual selves. This example is what identifying your talent does for you; it allows you to feel and believe you can conquer anything that comes your way.

Who wouldn’t want to have that confidence in day to day life?

Take Pride in Yourself

You cannot think someone will be proud of you if you are not proud of yourself. Take some time and take pride in yourself.

We all have things that make us great in our rights, and we all have the right to love those things about us and share them with the world. Be proud and share those things and do it, knowing that you are amazing.

Understanding that you have these great things about yourself should be more than enough to help with your confidence. Taking pride in yourself and the things you have to offer other people also can help you help others.

Look at Yourself in the Mirror and Smile

Yes, I know it sounds simple, but when was the last time you smiled at yourself in the mirror.  Have you ever been walking down the street not feeling the best mood, and you cross paths with someone, and they smile at you?

I know it seems like a small gesture, but the truth is, after that smile, you started to feel better. Your mood elevated just a little bit.

Imagine if you smiled at yourself in the mirror every day. How much more confident would you feel going about your daily life.

Smiling helps everyone feel better about themselves. It tricks your brain into thinking you are confident even in the moments you are not.

Practicing this every day can help build your confidence and create a good attitude.

We all want to exude self-confidence, and sometimes we have to work to get to that place. The work isn't always easy, but it is worth it and can carry you along the way.
