It’s Time To Regain Your Personal Power

Personal Power

Personal power is something we all have. Some of us wait for someone else to give it to us.

Yes, external things can make you feel like your power comes from elsewhere, but the truth is your power comes from within.

What does owning your power do for you?

  • Gives your creditability
  • Allows others to see you as influential and ask you for advice or assistance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships in and out of the workplace
  • Allows you to speak up for yourself, demonstrate your strength and admit when you are wrong

Here are some things you can do to help you own your power:

Acknowledge and Declare your Ambition

Some people are afraid to let people know their goals and dreams. I know that could be for many reasons, but what if you kept yourself from finding someone who could help you along the way.

When you refuse to acknowledge your ambitions, you keep yourself small and rob yourself of your power.

Step out of your comfort zone. Share your dreams and ambitions with your friends, family, coworkers, and even your employers. These people may help you achieve your goals, or at the very least, they will be able to help direct you to someone who might help.

I've said this before, and I will repeat it we all have dreams, and even if our ambitions are similar, the paths we will take are different.  But we never know who can help us along the way.

If something is on your heart to do, do it and don't let anyone stop you from achieving your dreams. You have the power to do whatever you want. You have to step into your power and own it.

Replace Negative Self Talk with Positive Affirmations

At one point or another, we have all experienced negative thoughts and negative self-talk.

Those negative thoughts can sabotage you quicker than your worst enemy. Stop the negative self-talk because it keeps you from moving forward and taking action.

Yes, the negative thoughts will come, but you can do something to replace and eventually stop those thoughts.

When you feel a negative thought coming, you acknowledge the thought or feeling. Recognizing the thought means that you are self-aware, and self-aware is a significant part of owning your power.
