Starting anything new can be daunting, especially embarking on a new journey to knowing yourself.
We have the face we only show ourselves as well as the face we show everyone else.
Sometimes we get so caught up that we forget which face is which.
No one wants to keep up appearances to the point where they genuinely forget who they are, but it happens.
There are often moments of uncertainty and second-guessing yourself. Still, with commitment and work, you will get through it and onto the other side.
As you may already know, I am a firm believer in knowing who you are inside and out.

The reason I feel so strongly about understanding yourself is that knowing who you are, lays a strong foundation for how your life journey will look.
Here are my main two reasons why knowing yourself is important not only before you start your journey, but while you are your journey.
The first reason I support knowing who you are is that you will be able to make decisions without wavering because someone opposes you.
The second reason I support knowing who you are is that it gives you confidence. Confidence is essential when going on the journey to live the life you desire.
First Stage of Life and Life Purpose Journey
The first stage of the journey is Knowing Me: this stage consists of three steps, which all help people truly learn or relearn who they are and why they are the way they are.
We will talk about the steps at another time.
Yes, you know who you are on the surface, but do you understand who you are deep within.
This stage is crucial because you have to acknowledge and understand who you are before you can fulfill your dreams and desires.

This stage is where we have to work to understand the ins and outs, as well as the thought processes associated with the things you do.
I like to call this stage laying the groundwork or foundation.
The foundation is where you build from, and it needs to be reliable.
The only way to build a strong foundation is to dive deep within to explore yourself and ask yourself questions you usually would not ask.
Some examples of those questions are:
- Why do I believe this?
- Why do I believe in this religion?
- Why do I react to things the way I do?
- Why does this thing trigger me?
- There are more questions, but you get the idea.
You are scared to look within because you are afraid of what you will find.
Guess what, we are all afraid. There are things we hid deep within because we do not want to deal with them.
Eventually, these things will come to the surface, whether we want them to or not.
Do you think you should uncover these things or let someone else expose them?
I like to think of it this way. I tell myself to own everything myself, so when something is “uncovered.” I have already owned it, and no one can use the information to hurt me.
With owning who you are comes a sense of security and confidence.
The confidence can lend you the courage to start or continue your journey.
With your confidence, you will not be afraid to go after the life you want.
You will not be afraid of getting everything you deserve, and you will have the courage to continue, even when life gets hard.

A sense of certainty is only a step away
Not only are you able to gain confidence.
You will gain a sense of surety or certainty.
Surety or certainty is needed in this stage because there may be instances where you come against people who do not agree with you.
I know you may encounter people all the time who do not agree with you. Sometimes when you meet these people, you may shy away because you are not sure enough to stand up for what you believe.
Understanding who you are will help you be able to stand up for yourself and your beliefs.
These benefits do not happen overnight; they come in time once you get entirely comfortable with yourself.
How do you begin to learn more about yourself?
There are many ways you can begin to learn more bout yourself where you do not need the help of others.
Listen to your intuition. Your intuition will tell you when something is not right for you.
- Ask yourself questions about your thought processes and belief system.
- Do what feels natural.
- Be honest with yourself and others.
These are just some of the things you can do on your own when it comes to getting to know yourself.
Everyone does not need help from another person. But think about how much deeper you can go with the support of another.
Remember, this journey is to benefit, and you should do it by any means necessary.
